Terabytes to Gigabytes Converter
This free digital-storage converter changes terabytes (TB) to gigabytes (GB) and back again, using the decimal SI definition that storage manufacturers print on their products. It is handy when sizing backups, comparing drive capacities, or budgeting cloud storage.
How it works
The conversion is a single fixed factor:
GB = TB × 1000
TB = GB ÷ 1000
Type a value in either field and the other updates instantly — the tool multiplies by 1000 going from TB to GB, and divides by 1000 going the other way. This is the decimal (SI) convention. Note that operating systems often report storage in binary units (1 GiB = 1024³ bytes), which is why a “1 TB” drive shows as roughly 931 GB in Windows.
Example
Convert 2.5 TB: 2.5 × 1000 = 2500 GB. Going back, 2500 GB ÷ 1000 = 2.5 TB.
| Terabytes (TB) | Gigabytes (GB) |
|---|---|
| 1 TB | 1000 GB |
| 2.5 TB | 2500 GB |
| 100 TB | 100000 GB |
| 1000 TB | 1000000 GB |
