This page shows a live countdown to the New Year — the days, hours, minutes and seconds remaining until midnight on 1 January in your local time zone. There is nothing to set up, making it ideal for a New Year’s Eve party screen, a phone, or a shared display.
How it works
The timer takes your current year, adds one, and builds a target at midnight on 1 January of that next year in your local time zone. Every second it re-reads your device clock and computes the difference to that target, breaking it into days, hours, minutes and seconds. Because it is anchored to your local time zone, it reaches zero exactly when the New Year arrives where you are.
Example
At 31 December, 9:00 pm, the countdown reads about 3 hours, 0 minutes until the New Year, ticking down each second. At the stroke of midnight it reaches 0d 00:00:00, and from then it targets the following 1 January.
There is nothing to set up: the timer reads your device clock, so it is always accurate for wherever you are, and it never sends anything to a server.
