How it works
The timer builds a target at midnight on 25 December this year in your local time zone. If that moment has already passed (it is later in December or the new year has begun), it rolls the target forward to next year’s Christmas. It then computes the difference between that target and the current time and breaks it into days, hours, minutes and seconds, updating once per second from your device clock.
Example
If it is currently 1 December at noon, the countdown reads about 23 days, 12 hours until Christmas. As the seconds tick by the numbers decrease, and at the stroke of midnight on the 25th the timer hits zero before rolling on to the following year.
