A free receipt maker that turns a few quick details into a clean, itemised sales receipt you can download as a PNG image or a printable PDF. It is built for small shops, market stalls, freelancers, tutors, landlords taking rent, charity stalls and anyone who needs to hand a customer proof of payment without buying a point-of-sale system. You add your business name and contact details once, list what was sold, and the running subtotal, tax, discount and grand total update live in a thermal-receipt style preview as you type.

How it works

The tool models a standard retail receipt. Each line item has a name, a quantity and a unit price; the line total is quantity multiplied by price. All the line totals add up to the subtotal. An optional percentage discount is taken off the subtotal first, then your chosen tax (VAT, GST or a local sales tax) is applied to the discounted amount — the same order most tills use — to give the final total.

If the customer is paying cash, you can enter the amount they handed over and the receipt works out the change due. You can also record the payment method (cash, card, mobile money, bank transfer) and a cashier or server name, which is handy for busy stalls and cafes.

The receipt is laid out from a single abstract model and then drawn two ways. For the on-screen preview and the PNG it is painted onto an HTML canvas at high resolution, giving crisp text suitable for printing or screenshots. For the PDF it is re-drawn into an 80mm-wide, auto-height page using a monospaced font so it matches a real thermal till roll. Because both outputs come from the same model, what you see in the preview is exactly what you download.

Your business profile and the current draft are saved in your browser, so the next receipt starts with your details already filled in — just bump the receipt number and add the new items. Nothing is uploaded; every calculation and every export happens on your own device.

Example

A coffee shop sells 2 flat whites at 3.20 and 1 almond croissant at 2.95. The subtotal is 9.35. With VAT at 20% the tax is 1.87, giving a total of 11.22. The customer pays with a 20 note, so the receipt shows amount paid 20.00 and change 8.78.
