Tip calculator and bill splitter
A quick way to add a tip, split a restaurant bill between friends, and settle up without doing mental arithmetic at the table. Useful for diners, group meals and anyone who wants a clean per-person figure including gratuity. Supports GBP, USD, EUR, AUD and CAD.
How it works
The tip is the bill multiplied by the tip percentage: tip = bill × (tipPct ÷ 100). The total is bill + tip. If you tick round up, the total is rounded
up to the next whole currency unit with Math.ceil, and the displayed tip is
recalculated as total − bill so everything reconciles. The per-person amount is
the final total divided by the number of people. Preset buttons fill in 10%,
12.5%, 15%, 18% and 20% instantly.
Example
A £60 bill with a 15% tip split between three people: the tip is 60 × 0.15 = £9, the total is £69, and each person pays 69 ÷ 3 = £23.00. Tick round-up
and the total stays £69 (already whole); on a £63.40 total it would round to £64
and split to £21.33 each.
| Bill | Tip % | Total | Per person (×3) |
|---|---|---|---|
| £40 | 10% | £44.00 | £14.67 |
| £60 | 15% | £69.00 | £23.00 |
| £80 | 18% | £94.40 | £31.47 |
| £100 | 20% | £120.00 | £40.00 |
