The Multiplication Table Generator turns the humble times table into something you can actually use: a clean, printable times-table chart for the wall or the inside of a homework folder, or a stack of blank practice worksheets with a matching answer key for drilling the facts. Everything is built in your browser and exported as a tidy A4 PDF, so there is no sign-up, no watermark and no upload — useful for teachers preparing a class set, parents helping at the kitchen table, or anyone brushing up their own mental arithmetic.

How it works

Pick one of two modes. In chart mode you choose a size — enter 12 for the familiar 12×12 grid, 20 for an extended chart, or anything up to 30 — and the tool fills in every product. A square grid layout shows the classic cross-reference table where you read a row and a column to find an answer; a stacked tables layout instead prints one small table per number (“the 7 times table”, “the 8 times table”) which many children find easier to learn from. Optional touches let you highlight the square-number diagonal (1, 4, 9, 16…) and add alternating colour bands so rows are easy to follow across a wide grid.

In practice mode the generator produces fill-in-the-blank questions such as 6 × 9 = ____. You control how many questions appear on each sheet, how many sheets to print, and whether the question order is sequential (predictable, good for early learners) or shuffled (a fresh random draw each sheet, good for testing recall). Turn on the answer key and the PDF adds a marking page after each worksheet with the products filled in. A name-and-date line can be added to the top of every sheet for classroom use.

Because the whole thing runs client-side, the live preview mirrors exactly what the PDF will contain, and your title and preferences are remembered in local storage for next time. Nothing you do is sent anywhere.

Example

A primary teacher needs a class set for times-table week. They set the size to 12, keep the square-grid layout with the diagonal highlighted, and download a crisp 12×12 reference chart to photocopy. Then they switch to practice mode, set 25 questions per sheet, 5 sheets, order shuffled, and tick the answer key — out comes a 10-page PDF: five different worksheets plus five answer keys, ready to hand out and mark.
