Do I need speaker labels in the transcript?

They help the model attribute action items to the right owner, but they are not required. Without them the tool still extracts decisions and tasks, marking owners as Unassigned where it cannot tell who is responsible.

Where does my API key go?

It stays in your browser tab and is sent directly to OpenAI or Anthropic with the request you trigger. It is never stored, logged, or routed through any Gera server, and refreshing the tab clears it.

Will it invent action items?

The prompt instructs the model to extract only decisions and tasks actually present in the transcript and to capture due dates only when explicitly stated. Review the output before circulating it, as with any AI extraction.

What are the three output formats?

Structured gives labelled sections for decisions, action items, and discussion points. Recap email produces a ready-to-send summary message. Formal minutes adds attendees, agenda topics, and next steps in a traditional minutes layout.

Who pays for the API calls?

You do, on your own provider account. Each summary is one real API call billed at your usage rate. The tool itself is free — your only cost is the tokens consumed on your key.

How it works

The tool builds a structured extraction prompt that asks the model to attribute each action item to a named owner where possible, capture due dates only when explicitly stated, and avoid inventing decisions or tasks. It sends one direct request to the provider and returns the result in Markdown for you to copy.

For Anthropic, the request includes the official direct-browser-access header so it works straight from the page.

Tips
