Finance Team Prompt Pack

AI prompts for reports, forecasts, variance analysis, and memos

Finance work produces a lot of writing — variance commentary, budget-versus-actual narratives, forecast assumption logs, and board memos — and that writing has to be precise. This Finance Team prompt pack gives you structured prompts that turn figures you have already calculated into clear, audience-appropriate narrative, while explicitly instructing the model never to invent numbers. The arithmetic stays yours; the AI handles the prose.

How it works

Prompts are grouped by finance workflow — reporting (report commentary, budget-vs-actual), planning (forecast assumptions, scenario narratives), analysis (variance bridges, KPI explanations), and communication (board memos, investor updates). Filter or search, then replace bracketed placeholders such as [report type], [period], and [audience], and paste the figures you want explained. Each prompt tells the model to use only the numbers you supply and to flag anything it cannot derive. The tool only builds the prompt in your browser — it never sees your financials.

Tips and examples

Always paste your own calculated figures and then check that the model echoed them exactly; never let an AI compute a number you will circulate. For variance commentary, ask the prompt to split drivers into volume, price, and timing, and to separate one-off items from underlying trends — that is the distinction reviewers care about. Match the audience setting to the reader: a board wants three sharp bullets and a recommendation, while your FP&A team can take the granular bridge. Treat every output as a draft requiring human review for accuracy and materiality before it touches a decision, a board pack, or a filing.
