Wyoming is one of the few US states where the state minimum wage law actually sets a rate below the federal floor. Wyoming statute (Wyo. Stat. § 27-4-202) lists $5.15 per hour, but because the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) supersedes any lower state rate for covered employers, the effective minimum wage for the vast majority of Wyoming workers is the federal $7.25 per hour — a rate unchanged since July 24, 2009. This calculator converts that rate (or any wage above it) into the figures workers and employers actually need: weekly gross pay, monthly gross pay and annual gross salary, with FLSA overtime baked in automatically.

How it works

  • Regular time — the first 40 hours in a workweek, paid at the straight-time rate.
  • Overtime — any hours beyond 40, paid at 1.5 times the regular rate under FLSA Section 7(a)(1).

Weekly gross = (regular hours x wage) + (overtime hours x wage x 1.5).

Monthly gross is derived as weekly x 52 / 12, which produces the exact calendar-month average. Annual gross is weekly x 52. All arithmetic runs in your browser — no data is uploaded or stored.

Wyoming minimum wage in context

Wyoming’s state wage statute has not been updated to track federal increases since 2009, leaving the nominal $5.15 figure marooned well below the FLSA floor. In practice this creates a two-tier legal structure: FLSA-covered employers (those with annual gross sales of $500,000 or more, or involved in interstate commerce) must pay $7.25/hr; only the rare employer outside FLSA coverage faces just the $5.15 state floor.

Wyoming’s economy leans heavily on energy, agriculture and tourism. Seasonal and entry-level roles in hospitality — particularly around Jackson Hole and Yellowstone — often pay well above the minimum due to labor competition, but the statutory floor remains $7.25 for legal compliance purposes.
