How accurate are the totals?

Tips are calculated as bill × percentage and totals as bill + tip, rounded to two decimal places. The per-person figure divides the total evenly, so rounding may leave a fraction of a unit between people.

Is my bill amount private?

What is a standard tip percentage?

How it works

For each percentage in a fixed set — 10%, 12.5%, 15%, 18%, 20%, 22% and 25% — the tool applies straightforward arithmetic and, if you enter a headcount, a per-person split:

tip        = bill × percentage / 100
total      = bill + tip
per person = total ÷ number of people

All figures are rounded to two decimals. Because the per-person value divides the total evenly, rounding can leave a fraction of a unit between people.

Example

On a $50 bill, the table reads:
