How is the retirement date worked out?

It is the date you reach your target age — your birth day and month in the year you turn that age — taken at local midnight.

What if I have already reached my retirement age?

The tool detects that and shows how many days ago you reached the target age instead of a countdown.

Does the countdown update in real time?

Yes. The timer ticks every second, so the days, hours, minutes, and seconds remaining count down live while the page is open.

What time zone is used?

Your local time zone. The retirement date is taken at local midnight on the day you turn the target age, and the remaining time is measured against your device clock.

What if my birthday falls on 29 February?

The tool uses your birth month and day in the target year. For a 29 February birthday in a non-leap target year, the date rolls to the start of March, the standard behaviour for date arithmetic.

Can I use any retirement age?

Yes. Enter whatever age you plan to retire — 55, 60, 65, 67, or any other — and the countdown targets the day you reach exactly that age.

From 30 May 2026, the countdown shows roughly 19 years, displayed precisely as a live count of days, hours, minutes, and seconds.
