How it works
The international yard is defined as exactly 0.9144 metres, so the converter uses that fixed factor:
- yd = m ÷ 0.9144 (i.e. m × 1.0936133)
- m = yd × 0.9144
The relationship is exact and linear, so the converter is bidirectional — edit either field and the other updates instantly.
Example
A running track straight is 100 m and you want it in yards.
100 ÷ 0.9144 = 109.36 yards.
