This free converter turns litres (L) into US liquid gallons (gal) and back, useful for fuel economy, recipe scaling, aquariums and any task that mixes metric and US measurements. Note it uses the US gallon, which differs from the larger UK imperial gallon.
How it works
The conversion uses the exact definition of a US gallon (3.785411784 litres):
US gallons = litres × 0.2641720524
The reverse direction multiplies by 3.785411784 (litres = gallons × 3.785411784). The tool computes the result as you type in either field, so it works in both directions at once.
