How is a sunset palette built?

The generator interpolates a hue ramp from a warm starting hue to a cool ending hue across five evenly spaced steps. As the ramp moves toward the cool end it lowers lightness and saturation, mirroring how a sunset sky darkens from the horizon upward.

What is the difference between the moods?

Golden hour runs gold and orange into pink and purple; dusk pushes from red-orange through magenta into indigo; ocean sunset blends amber and coral into deep blue. Each defines a different start and end hue for the ramp.

Why do the colors form a smooth gradient?

Because the five swatches are sampled at equal positions along a single hue, saturation, and lightness ramp. The preview bar shows the colors blended together so you can see how they work as a continuous gradient.

Can I get the exact same palette again?

Endpoints are jittered randomly each time, so palettes vary on every click. Copy the hex codes you like, because regenerating will produce a new variation.

How it works

A sunset gradient is essentially a single hue, saturation, and lightness ramp sampled at a few points. The generator:

Picks a warm start hue and a cool end hue based on the chosen mood, with a small random jitter for variety.
Samples five swatches at equal positions along the ramp from start to end.
Lightens and saturates the warm end while darkening the cool end, so the palette fades like a real sky.

The preview bar blends the swatches into a continuous gradient, and each color is converted to a hex string for copying.

Tips and notes
