Argentina charges IVA (Impuesto al Valor Agregado) at a standard rate of 21%, with a reduced 10.5% rate for essentials and an increased 27% rate on public utilities billed to registered businesses. This calculator routes your amount to the correct rate and computes the net base, the IVA, and the gross total in both directions — ideal for AFIP electronic invoices (facturas and comprobantes electrónicos).
How it works
Pick the applicable rate and a direction:
- Add IVA: gross = net × (1 + rate). The tax is net × rate.
- Remove IVA: net = gross ÷ (1 + rate). The included IVA is gross − net.
The three statutory rates are 21% (general), 10.5% (reduced) and 27% (increased, public utilities to responsables inscriptos). The reduced rate is what most catches people out — confirm the category before billing.
Example
Add 21% IVA to a $10,000 net price:
- IVA = 10,000 × 0.21 = $2,100.00
- Gross = $12,100.00
To remove 21% IVA from a $12,100 gross price: 12,100 ÷ 1.21 = $10,000.00 net, with $2,100.00 IVA included.
