UK statutory entitlement calculator

A simple what are you owed? wizard for the three statutory entitlements people most often need to check: Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP), statutory redundancy pay and your minimum statutory notice period. Pick a scenario, enter a few details, and see the amount with a full breakdown. It is for UK employees facing maternity leave, redundancy or a notice period who want a quick estimate before talking to HR or ACAS.

How it works

SMP pays 90% of your average weekly earnings for the first 6 weeks, then the lower of £187.18 or 90% of earnings for the next 33 weeks — up to 39 weeks total; you qualify only if earnings reach the £125/week lower earnings limit. Redundancy pay counts each full year of service (capped at 20) at a weeks-per-year rate set by your age during that year: 0.5 week under 22, 1 week aged 22–40, 1.5 weeks aged 41+, multiplied by a week’s pay capped at £719. Notice is 1 week after one month, then 1 week per full year, capped at 12 weeks.

Example

Redundancy for someone aged 45 with 10 years’ service: counting back from 45, four years fall in the 41+ band (1.5 weeks each = 6 weeks) and six in the 22–40 band (1 week each = 6 weeks), for 12 qualifying weeks. At £500 a week (under the £719 cap) that is £6,000, paid tax-free.
