UI mockup prompt builder
AI image models are a fast way to explore UI concepts — they can render a plausible app or web screen in seconds, which is ideal for early layout and visual-direction work. The catch is that they need precise prompts: platform, design system, screen type, and the feature on display. This builder assembles all of that into a clean prompt so you spend time iterating on design, not wrestling with wording.
How it works
The tool composes your inputs into a prompt that leads with the fidelity and screen type, names the platform and design system for visual conventions, and then states the feature being shown. Design-system choices map to concrete cues — Material brings elevated cards and a floating action button, iOS brings rounded controls and large titles — so the output looks like the platform it targets. Low fidelity requests grayscale wireframe blocks; high fidelity requests polished, full-color production UI.
Tips for mockup prompts
- Decide fidelity first. Wireframe to test structure, high fidelity to sell a direction — mixing the two confuses the model.
- Name one screen, one feature. “Settings screen with a list of toggles” beats “an app with lots of features” every time.
- Lean on the design system. It is the single highest-leverage word for making output feel native rather than generic.
- Treat text as placeholder. Image models garble UI copy; ignore the labels and read the layout, then add real text in a design tool.
