Torque N·m to ft·lb Converter
This converter changes torque between newton-metres (N·m) and foot-pounds (ft·lb) in both directions. It is most useful for following a torque spec — for example tightening wheel nuts or engine bolts — when your wrench and the manual use different units.
How it works
One foot-pound equals exactly 1.3558179483314 newton-metres, so the conversion is a fixed factor applied either way:
ft·lb = N·m ÷ 1.3558179483314
N·m = ft·lb × 1.3558179483314
Type a value in either field and the other updates instantly. Note that for torque, “foot-pound” (ft·lb) and “pound-foot” (lb·ft) are the same unit.
Example
Convert 100 N·m: 100 ÷ 1.3558179 ≈ 73.7562 ft·lb. Going back, 73.7562 × 1.3558179 ≈ 100 N·m.
| Torque (N·m) | Torque (ft·lb) |
|---|---|
| 10 N·m | 7.375621 ft·lb |
| 25 N·m | 18.439054 ft·lb |
| 50 N·m | 36.878107 ft·lb |
| 100 N·m | 73.756215 ft·lb |
| 200 N·m | 147.51243 ft·lb |
