This area converter turns square metres (m²) into acres (ac) and back, which is handy when comparing metric plot sizes against acreage used in land and property listings. Type into either field and the other side updates live.
How it works
The conversion is a single multiplication by an exact factor:
acres = m² × 0.0002471053815 and m² = acres ÷ 0.0002471053815
That factor comes from the definition of an acre as exactly 4046.8564224 square metres, so dividing 1 by 4046.8564224 gives the m²-to-acre figure. Because the factor is tiny, square-metre areas produce small acre numbers.
Example
Convert a 2000 m² plot:
2000 × 0.0002471053815 ≈ 0.4942 acres
Going the other way, 0.25 acres is 0.25 ÷ 0.0002471053815 ≈ 1011.7 m².
| Square Metres (m²) | Acres (ac) |
|---|---|
| 1 m² | 0.000247 ac |
| 100 m² | 0.024711 ac |
| 1000 m² | 0.247105 ac |
| 4046.86 m² | 1.0 ac |
