Spain charges IVA (Impuesto sobre el Valor Añadido) at a standard rate of 21% as of 2025, with a reduced rate of 10% and a super-reduced rate of 4% for specific categories. This calculator adds IVA to a net price or extracts it from a tax-inclusive (gross) price, showing the full net, tax, and gross breakdown.
How it works
It is a single multiply or divide based on the rate you choose:
- Add IVA: gross = net × (1 + rate). The IVA is net × rate.
- Remove IVA: net = gross ÷ (1 + rate). The IVA inside the price is gross − net.
At the standard rate the multiplier is 1.21; switch the rate field to 10% (1.10) or 4% (1.04) for reduced-rate goods.
Example
| Mode | Input | Net | IVA (21%) | Gross |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Add | 100 net | 100.00 | 21.00 | 121.00 |
| Remove | 121 gross | 100.00 | 21.00 | 121.00 |
To remove IVA from 121 euros: 121 ÷ 1.21 = 100 net, leaving 21 of IVA — the exact reverse of adding it.
| Rate | Applies to |
|---|---|
| 21% standard | Most goods and services |
| 10% reduced | Food, hospitality, tourism, transport |
| 4% super-reduced | Staple foods, books, medicines |
