Which tile values does this use?

It uses the standard English Scrabble values — A, E, I, O, U, L, N, S, T, R are 1 point; D, G are 2; B, C, M, P are 3; F, H, V, W, Y are 4; K is 5; J, X are 8; and Q, Z are 10.

Does it include double or triple letter and word bonuses?

No. It shows the base face value of the tiles only. Board premium squares vary by placement, so you add those yourself.

Is my word sent anywhere?

No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

What is the highest-scoring single letter in Scrabble?

Q and Z are the highest at 10 points each, followed by J and X at 8 points. Stringing high-value tiles together, or landing them on premium squares, is how big scores are made.

How many points is a blank tile worth?

A blank tile scores zero points but can stand in for any letter. This calculator scores the letters you type, so type the letter the blank represents and mentally treat that tile as zero.

Does this work for the word QUIZ?

Yes. QUIZ scores 22 points as the base tile value: Q is 10, U is 1, I is 1 and Z is 10.

How it works
