Percentage of total calculator
Paste a list of numbers and instantly see the total plus each value’s percentage share of that total. It is ideal for budgets, expense breakdowns, survey results, vote counts, market shares, and any situation where you want to know how each item contributes to the whole — without setting up a spreadsheet.
How it works
The tool reads every number in the box (one per line, comma-separated, or a mix), sums them, then divides each by the total:
total = sum of all values
each share = value ÷ total × 100
Blank lines and non-numeric entries are ignored. Before rounding, the shares add up to exactly 100%.
Example
The list 12, 8, 30, 50:
- Total: 12 + 8 + 30 + 50 = 100
- Shares: 12% , 8% , 30% , 50%

If the total were 200 instead, a value of 50 would be 25% of the total.
What this is useful for
Budget breakdowns. Paste your department spending figures and immediately see which categories eat the largest share — useful for presenting to stakeholders without needing a chart or spreadsheet.
Survey results. Paste raw response counts for each option and see the percentage of respondents who chose each one, ready to quote directly in a report.
Market share analysis. Enter revenue figures for competitors and see each as a proportion of the total addressable market you are modelling.

The rounding caveat
Rounding each share independently to two decimal places can make the displayed shares sum to 99.99% or 100.01%. This is a display artefact, not a calculation error — the underlying shares always sum to exactly 100% before rounding. If you need shares that sum to exactly 100% in print, manually adjust the largest or smallest share to absorb the rounding difference.
