This tool spells any whole number into Modern Standard Arabic (الفصحى) words — the form used in writing, contracts and formal documents across the Arab world. It is useful for invoices, cheques and teaching, and runs entirely in your browser.
How it works
The number is split into groups of three digits (units, thousands, millions, billions). Each group of up to three is spelled with the standard hundreds, tens and units words, and then joined to its scale word — ألف (thousand), مليون (million), مليار (billion). Arabic chooses the scale word’s form by count: the singular for one, the dual (ألفان, مليونان) for two, and the plural (آلاف, ملايين, مليارات) for 3-10. Groups are joined with the connector و, and the output reads right-to-left.
Example
The number 1234 breaks into 1 thousand and 234:
| Part | Arabic |
|---|---|
| 1000 | ألف |
| 200 | مئتان |
| 34 | أربعة وثلاثون |
Joined with و, the result is ألف ومئتان وأربعة وثلاثون.
