Nigeria charges VAT (Value Added Tax) at a standard rate of 7.5% as of 2025, raised from 5% under the Finance Act 2020. This calculator adds VAT to a net price or extracts it from a tax-inclusive (gross) price, instantly and entirely in your browser.

How it works

The calculator works in two modes from the 7.5% rate:

  • Add tax — the amount is net, tax = net × 0.075, and gross = net + tax.
  • Remove tax — the amount is gross (tax-inclusive), so net = gross ÷ 1.075, and the VAT is the difference.

Example

On a net price of ₦10,000:

FieldValue
Net₦10,000.00
VAT (7.5%)₦750.00
Gross₦10,750.00

Working backwards from a ₦10,750 gross price in Remove mode: ₦10,750 ÷ 1.075 = ₦10,000 net, leaving ₦750 of VAT.

Standard rate 7.5% (raised from 5% under the Finance Act 2020). Basic food items, medical services, and educational materials are exempt. The tool runs entirely in your browser — no amounts or personal data are transmitted.
