How it works
Enter your hourly wage and hours per week. The calculator splits your weekly hours into two bands:
- Regular time — up to 40 hours, paid at your entered rate.
- Overtime — any hours above 40, paid at 1.5x the entered rate (the FLSA overtime premium).
Weekly gross is the sum of both bands. Monthly gross uses the 52-week year convention
(weekly x 52 / 12) so the figure represents an average month rather than a calendar month
with a varying number of paydays. Annual gross is simply weekly x 52.
The federal comparison table replicates the same calculation at $7.25/hr, then shows the dollar premium Maine workers receive from the higher state rate. For a standard 40-hour week, Maine’s $14.65/hr rate produces $296.00 more per week — or $15,392.00 more per year — than the federal minimum wage.

At the federal rate of $7.25/hr the same 45-hour week would yield only $344.38. Maine’s $14.65/hr rate produces $351.50 more in a single week, or over $18,278 more per year.

Maine has raised its minimum wage every year since CPI indexing took effect, building on a series of legislated increases passed in 2016 that began phasing in from 2017:
