What does the focus field do?

It appends an instruction telling the model what to prioritize, such as action items, risks, or pricing. The summary then weights those aspects more heavily while still covering the main points.

Can I summarize very long text?

You can summarize text up to the model's input context limit. For documents larger than that, summarize in chunks and then summarize the summaries — a recursive approach that fits any length into a small final output.

How it works

You paste the text, set a length from 1 to 10, and choose a style. The tool assembles a system instruction tailored to that style — for example, “summarize in 3 sentences as a single paragraph” or “summarize as 5 concise bullet points” — and sends your text as the user message to OpenAI or Anthropic. An optional focus field appends a priority hint so the model emphasizes the aspects you care about. The result is returned verbatim and can be copied with one click.

Headline mode ignores the length slider and produces one short line, ideal for titles and subject lines. For consistent results across many inputs, keep the length and style fixed and vary only the focus. Cheaper models like gpt-4o-mini and claude-3-5-haiku are usually more than good enough for summarization, so use them to keep costs low at volume. Your key never leaves your browser except to call the provider directly, and it is never stored.
