Kelvin to Celsius Converter

This free temperature converter changes Kelvin (K) into Celsius (°C) and back again. Kelvin is the SI base unit of temperature, used in science and engineering, while Celsius is the everyday scale for weather and cooking. Because the two scales share the same step size, only an offset separates them.

How it works

The converter subtracts the fixed offset: °C = K − 273.15. To go the other way it adds 273.15: K = °C + 273.15. This is an additive (not proportional) relationship, so a change of 1 K always equals a change of 1 °C. The reference point is absolute zero, which sits at 0 K = −273.15 °C. Both fields are linked and update instantly as you type.

Example

To convert 300 K to Celsius, subtract 273.15:

300 − 273.15 = 26.85 °C

So 300 K is about 26.85 °C — a warm room. Likewise, the human body temperature of 310.15 K equals exactly 37 °C.
