AI image output format optimizer

You generated a great image — now which format do you save it in? The choice between PNG, WebP and JPEG changes file size, quality and where the image will even open. This optimizer takes your use case, quality needs and size constraints and recommends the right format with the trade-off spelled out.

How it works

Each format sits at a different point on the quality-versus-size curve. PNG is lossless and supports transparency but is heavy; JPEG is lossy and compact but has no transparency and degrades with re-saves; WebP straddles both with smaller files and optional transparency, at the cost of weaker support in old or specialised pipelines. The tool weighs your priorities — lossless quality, smallest size, transparency, and target platform — and returns the best fit plus a sensible fallback when those priorities pull in different directions.

Tips and notes

  • Keep a PNG master. Whatever you publish, archive a lossless PNG so you can re-export later without compounding compression loss.
  • WebP is the modern web default. Smaller than PNG and JPEG at similar quality, with transparency when you need it.
  • Never JPEG a logo or text image. Lossy compression smears hard edges; use PNG or lossless WebP instead.
  • Check the platform’s accepted formats. Print shops and NFT marketplaces often restrict formats and sizes — confirm before exporting.
