Parking is one of Houston’s quietly expensive line items, and the price swings widely depending on where you park. This estimator uses representative rate tiers for the city’s major districts to project your real daily, monthly, and annual parking spend.
How it works
Each district carries a typical daily and monthly garage rate. Your effective cost depends on the plan you choose:
hourly plan = hourly rate × hours per day × days
daily plan = daily rate × days
monthly plan = flat monthly contract rate
event extra = event rate × event multiplier × event days
annual = (monthly cost + event extra) × 12
A monthly contract is a flat fee regardless of how often you actually park, which is why frequent commuters save money by locking one in rather than paying the daily gate rate every time.
Example and tips
Parking Downtown 22 days a month at a $20 daily rate costs about $440 — far more than the roughly $125 monthly contract for the same garage. If you only park a handful of days, the daily rate wins; cross over about six to eight days and the monthly contract becomes the cheaper choice. Always check whether your employer or building offers validated or subsidised parking before committing.
