Does this connect to my provider account?

No. It is a manual planning tool — you enter your usage and quota, and it does the burn-down math in your browser. Nothing is sent to any provider or stored.

Why are OpenAI and Anthropic shown as credit-based?

Neither offers a recurring monthly free tier in the way Google AI Studio does. They give trial credit, so the monitor treats your remaining credit as a pool that depletes with usage rather than a daily reset.

How accurate are the default limits?

They are representative estimates that change frequently. Always override them with the exact figure from your provider dashboard before relying on the result.

RPD means requests per day — the most common unit for free-tier rate limits, especially on Google's Gemini Flash models. Some providers also limit requests per minute (RPM) and tokens per minute (TPM).

How do I avoid hitting the cap mid-day?

Spread requests evenly, cache repeated responses, and route low-value calls to a cheaper or free model. The monitor's daily-percentage view makes it obvious when you are pacing too fast.

How it works

Providers structure free access in two different ways, and the monitor handles both. Google AI Studio offers a recurring daily quota (requests per day), so the tool shows what percentage of today’s allowance you are using and warns when you will exceed the cap. OpenAI and Anthropic instead grant trial credit — a finite pool that does not refill on a fixed daily schedule — so the monitor treats your remaining budget as a pool, divides it by your daily usage to get a burn-down in days, and compares that against any reset date you supply.

Tips to stretch a free tier

Confirm the real limits. Free-tier numbers change often. The defaults here are estimates — override them with the exact figure from your dashboard.
Cache aggressively. Identical or near-identical requests can be served from a local cache so they never touch your quota.
Tier your traffic. Send cheap, high-volume calls (classification, routing) to the most generous free model and reserve paid models for hard tasks.
Watch requests-per-minute too. Many free tiers also cap RPM and TPM, not just daily totals, so a burst can fail even when your daily budget is fine.
