Florida sets its own minimum wage through Amendment 2 — a ballot initiative voters passed in November 2020 — which created a fixed annual schedule of increases all the way to $15.00 per hour by 2026. As of September 30, 2024, the Florida minimum wage is $13.00 per hour, a full $5.75 above the federal floor of $7.25/hr that has gone unchanged since 2009.

This calculator lets you see, in seconds, exactly what any hourly rate in Florida translates to in weekly, monthly and annual gross pay, with overtime handled correctly under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Adjust the wage field to your actual pay rate and the hours field to your typical week — the figures update live in your browser with nothing ever uploaded.

How it works

Regular and overtime pay

The FLSA requires that employees covered by federal overtime rules receive 1.5 times their regular rate for every hour worked beyond 40 in a workweek. The calculator splits your weekly hours into regular (up to 40h) and overtime (above 40h), then applies the correct multiplier to each portion before summing to a weekly gross.

Weekly to monthly and annual conversion

Monthly gross is not a simple “multiply by 4” — that undercounts earnings in months with five pay periods. Instead, the tool uses the mathematically exact average: weekly gross × 52 ÷ 12, which gives 4.3333 weeks per month and matches any full-year payroll total precisely.

Federal comparison

The lower panel computes what the same hours would yield at the federal minimum of $7.25/hr and shows the annual dollar gap. For a standard 40-hour week that gap is nearly $12,000 per year, which illustrates the real effect of Florida’s higher state floor.

Worked example

A cashier in Orlando works 40 regular hours at Florida’s current minimum wage of $13.00/hr, then puts in 5 hours of overtime during a busy week:

  • Regular pay: 40h × $13.00 = $520.00
  • Overtime pay: 5h × $19.50 (= $13.00 × 1.5) = $97.50
  • Weekly gross: $617.50
  • Monthly gross: $617.50 × 52 ÷ 12 = $2,675.83
  • Annual gross (45h every week): $617.50 × 52 = $32,110

Compare that to the federal minimum ($7.25/hr, same schedule):

RateWeekly grossAnnual gross
Federal $7.25/hr, 40h$290.00$15,080
Florida $13.00/hr, 40h$520.00$27,040
Florida $13.00/hr, 45h$617.50$32,110
Florida $14.00/hr (Sep 2025), 40h$560.00$29,120
Florida $15.00/hr (Sep 2026), 40h$600.00$31,200

Florida minimum wage schedule under Amendment 2

Amendment 2 set the following step-up path:

  • $10.00/hr — September 30, 2021
  • $11.00/hr — September 30, 2022
  • $12.00/hr — September 30, 2023
  • $13.00/hr — September 30, 2024 (current)
  • $14.00/hr — September 30, 2025
  • $15.00/hr — September 30, 2026

After 2026, annual adjustments will be indexed to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers, so the rate will continue to rise with inflation rather than stagnate the way the federal $7.25 has since 2009.
