Egypt Value Added Tax (VAT) Calculator 2025
Egypt charges Value Added Tax (VAT) at a standard rate of 14%, introduced by VAT Law 67/2016. This calculator adds VAT to a net price or extracts it from a gross (tax-inclusive) price, giving the full net / tax / gross breakdown for invoices, quotes and receipts in Egyptian pounds (EGP).
How it works
The calculator works in two modes using the standard 14% rate (which you can override for special cases):
- Add tax — multiplies your net amount by the rate:
tax = net × (14 / 100), thengross = net + tax. - Remove tax — treats your figure as tax-inclusive and divides it out:
net = gross ÷ (1 + 14 / 100) = gross ÷ 1.14, thentax = gross − net.
Because the maths is a simple proportion, the result updates the instant you type. Everything stays in your browser — no amounts or personal data are transmitted.
Example
You sell goods for a net price of EGP 1,000. In Add tax mode the VAT is 1000 × 0.14 = EGP 140, so the customer pays EGP 1,140. Conversely, a till receipt showing EGP 1,140 in Remove tax mode resolves to 1140 ÷ 1.14 = EGP 1,000 net plus EGP 140 VAT.
| Item | Net | VAT (14%) | Gross |
|---|---|---|---|
| Example sale | 1,000 | 140 | 1,140 |
Standard rate is 14%. Some goods use a 5% special table rate, while basic foodstuffs and exports are zero-rated; switch the editable rate field if you need one of those.
