DALL·E 3 prompt builder
DALL·E 3 is unusual: it almost always rewrites your prompt before generating, because OpenAI funnels your text through GPT first. A two-word prompt becomes a paragraph the model invented — which is why results so often miss your intent. The fix is to write a prompt so complete and concrete that there is nothing left to rewrite. This builder assembles that prompt for you from a handful of structured fields.
How it works
The tool composes your inputs into a single descriptive sentence in the order DALL·E 3 reads best — subject, action, scene, lighting, style, medium, mood — and prepends a short instruction asking the model to render the description literally without embellishment. Each field you fill in is one less gap for the GPT rewriter to fill with its own ideas. Leave a field blank and that aspect stays open; fill it and you pin it down.
Tips for literal results
- Front-load the subject. DALL·E weights the start of the prompt heavily, so the main subject and its action belong first.
- Name the medium explicitly (“35mm film photograph”, “oil painting”, “3D render”) — it’s the single biggest lever on overall look.
- Avoid contradictions. “Minimalist baroque” confuses the rewriter; pick one dominant aesthetic and let the others support it.
- Specify what you don’t want by describing what you do. DALL·E 3 ignores negative phrasing like “no text”, so instead describe a clean, textless scene.
