College and scholarship applications often ask for your class rank percentile or where you fall in the “top X%” of your year — figures your school may not print on a transcript. This calculator turns your numeric rank and class size into both, instantly, so you can fill in those fields accurately.
How it works
Enter your rank (1 = top of the class) and the total class size. The tool computes two complementary measures:
- Percentile rank — the percentage of classmates ranked below you:
(class size − rank) ÷ class size × 100. Higher is better. - Top X% — your standing as a fraction of the class from the top:
rank ÷ class size × 100. Lower is better.
Example
Ranked 12th of 150:
percentile rank = (150 − 12) ÷ 150 × 100 = 138 ÷ 150 × 100 = 92% top percent = 12 ÷ 150 × 100 = top 8%
So being 12th of 150 places you in the 92nd percentile — the top 8% of your class. Both figures update instantly as you type, and the calculation runs entirely in your browser.
