Sci-Fi Character Name Generator

Futuristic names for aliens, androids, and pilots

Science fiction lives or dies on atmosphere, and a well-chosen name sets the tone instantly. This generator builds futuristic names from consonant-heavy syllables and optional unit designations to suit aliens, machines, and spacers alike.

How it works

Each type — alien, android or AI, pilot, and cyborg — has prefix, middle, and suffix syllable pools. The generator randomly assembles a prefix, an optional middle, and a suffix, capitalises it, and for androids and cyborgs may add a serial-style designation. The assembly looks roughly like this:

name = prefix + (maybe middle) + suffix
if android or cyborg and coin flip:
    name = name + "-" + randomLetter + threeDigits

Alien pools use jagged clusters to feel non-human, pilot pools stay sleek and pronounceable, and cyborg pools sound brutal and mechanical.

Tips and examples

You might generate “Xilthar” for an alien envoy, “Neotron-B273” for a ship’s AI, “Daksin” for an ace pilot, or “Slagvek-Z088” for a cybernetic mercenary. Match the type to the role you need, then regenerate to fine-tune the length and harshness. Shorter pilot names tend to feel heroic, while long designations suit faceless machine antagonists.
