The Arizona Minimum Wage Calculator lets anyone working in the Grand Canyon State instantly see their gross weekly, monthly and annual earnings — whether they are being paid the state minimum or a higher negotiated rate. It handles overtime at the federally mandated 1.5x multiplier and shows a direct comparison to the federal floor of $7.25 per hour, so you can see exactly how much Arizona’s stronger wage protection puts in your pocket.
How it works
Arizona’s minimum wage is $14.70 per hour as of 1 January 2025. That rate is set by Proposition 206 (the “Fair Wages and Healthy Families Act”), which voters passed in 2016. The law requires the Industrial Commission of Arizona to adjust the rate every year using the US Consumer Price Index — so it rises with inflation automatically. The federal minimum wage of $7.25 has been unchanged since 2009; because federal law sets only a floor, whichever rate is higher governs, and Arizona’s is always higher.
Overtime follows the Fair Labor Standards Act: any hours worked beyond 40 in a workweek must be compensated at a minimum of 1.5 times the regular hourly rate. At $14.70/hr, each overtime hour is worth $22.05. The calculator separates your regular and overtime hours, multiplies each bucket by the correct rate, and sums them to produce the weekly gross. Monthly and annual figures then follow from standard payroll arithmetic (weekly × 52 ÷ 12 and weekly × 52 respectively).
Worked example
Suppose you work 45 hours per week at the Arizona minimum wage of $14.70/hr:
| Component | Hours | Rate | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regular pay | 40 h | $14.70/hr | $588.00 |
| Overtime pay | 5 h | $22.05/hr | $110.25 |
| Weekly gross | $698.25 | ||
| Monthly gross | $3,025.75 | ||
| Annual gross | $36,309.00 |
At the federal rate of $7.25/hr, the same schedule yields only $17,907.50 per year — a difference of more than $18,401.50 per year in Arizona’s favour. That gap widens further once overtime hours stack up, because overtime amplifies the per-hour advantage.
Compare a straight 40-hour week across both rates:
| Scenario | Hourly | Weekly | Annual |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arizona minimum (2025) | $14.70 | $588.00 | $30,576 |
| Federal minimum | $7.25 | $290.00 | $15,080 |
| Arizona surplus | +$7.45 | +$298.00 | +$15,496 |
