This page is a quick reference of wedding anniversary gifts — both the traditional list and the modern list — for every milestone year from the first to the seventieth. It is handy for planning a present, choosing a card, or simply knowing whether your upcoming anniversary is the “silver”, “ruby” or “gold” one. You can search by year or by material to filter the table instantly.
How it works
Two parallel lists are shown side by side. The traditional list is centuries old and assigns natural and everyday materials to the early years (paper, cotton, leather, wood) building to precious gems and metals at the major milestones. The modern list was popularised in the 20th century and substitutes contemporary alternatives for some years. Years 1 to 15 are listed individually, then the table jumps to the five-year milestones (20, 25, 30, …, 70) that most gift guides focus on. Typing a year filters to that row; typing a material such as “silver” or “ruby” finds the year it belongs to.
Example
Looking up year 25 shows both lists agree: the gift is silver. The most recognised milestones are:
| Year | Traditional | Modern |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Paper | Clocks |
| 5 | Wood | Silverware |
| 25 | Silver | Silver |
| 40 | Ruby | Ruby |
| 50 | Gold | Gold |
| 60 | Diamond | Diamond |
