The Algerian NIF (Numero d’Identification Fiscale) is the 15-digit fiscal identifier the DGI Algeria issues to companies and individuals. It is mandatory on invoices, VAT declarations and public-procurement documents, and an incorrectly formatted NIF will be rejected by Algerian tax systems. This free validator confirms the structure entirely in your browser.
How it works
The NIF is a fixed 15-digit numeric code. This validator applies the official structural rules:
- Strip spaces and hyphens so you have 15 continuous digits.
- Confirm the value is exactly 15 digits and contains nothing but digits.
- Reject an all-zero value.
- Split the code into a 13-digit base identifier and a 2-digit activity / branch suffix.
Because Algeria publishes no weighted check-digit formula for the NIF, the tool validates structure rather than computing a checksum.
Example
A NIF such as 000216001234567 is reported as valid, with base identifier 0002160012345 and activity / branch suffix 67. A 14-digit value is rejected as the wrong length.
A valid result confirms the number is well-formed, not that the taxpayer is actually registered. To confirm registration, verify with the DGI. All processing stays on your device.
